A Civilization, Not a Mob List

Elves here hold trades and keep a day. They pray at the shrine in the morning, fetch water at the well at midday, read in the library through the afternoon, fill the tavern at dusk and watch a play, and go home to bed. When night comes the guards come out with spear and bow and range the walls until dawn.

The practical upshot is that a guarded elven town is one of the safest places to stand in Minecraft after dark — and that the town keeps living whether you are there or not.

There Is Already One Out There

An elven town of white and blue quartz buildings on cleared flat ground, with a tall guard tower at its centre

Every world contains exactly one natural elven town, and only ever one. On a fresh world it settles near spawn. The elves clear their own ground and level it first, so you find a proper town on flat open land rather than something half-buried in a hillside.

It arrives finished: a town centre, a Deed Office with its Architect, a working smithy, profession shops with residents living in them, a well at the heart of the square, and a Large Guard Tower with its garrison already posted.

Can’t find it? /elventown natural gives you its coordinates. /elventown locate points at the nearest town of any kind.

Then Build Your Own

Inside the Deed Office, the Elven Architect stands beneath a sign reading 'selling: Elven Theater Deed', with the full material bill listed below

You don’t stack blocks — you commission a civilization. Craft a Deed Office, the one building you place yourself, and your Architect moves in. He sells every other deed in the mod.

An honest price, itemised. Every building costs exactly the materials it takes to raise, and the Architect shows you the bill before you buy. A shrine wants sixty-five quartz blocks and a little gold; a theatre wants nine hundred and sixty-four. Stock the vault chests, buy the deed, and the elves build it — walls, roof, furnishings, staff and garrison in one sweep.

The Rules of Placement

  • A Town Centre founds a town for a flat 9 emerald blocks. It buys sovereignty, not blocks.
  • Shops stand anywhere, and join a nearby centre automatically — but they never found a town by themselves. That is what keeps real towns rare.
  • Public buildings need a centre in range. Tavern, well, library, shrine, theatre and recruitment office all refuse to place without one — and refusing costs you nothing.
  • Two distances matter and they differ. Buildings join a town within 128 blocks of its centre; a new centre must sit at least 1024 blocks from any other, so towns never crowd.
  • The Deed Office and the Fortress are exempt — they place anywhere.

What You Can Raise

An elven mason's shop in white quartz with deep blue roof tiles and a hanging wooden sign

Homes and workshops — profession shops for the butcher, farmer, mason, fisherman, fletcher, cleric, shepherd, cartographer and leatherworker, each with an elf who claims a job block and a bed. A General Smithy houses the metal trades. A Librarian’s Study keeps the busiest routine in town. A Recruitment Office lets you seed the trades you want.

Gathering places — the town centre, tavern, well, library, shrine and theatre. No residents; these are where the town comes together.

Fortifications — a 9×9 Guard Tower with two guards, a 13×13 Large Guard Tower with three, and a 33×33 Fortress with corner towers, wall-walks and a full garrison.

Buildings are permanent. Killing an elf never deletes its building — a new resident eventually claims the empty job.

Guards Who Mean It

Elven guards patrol in a spread ring, holding an iron spear for close work and switching to a bow at range. They engage every hostile that comes near — including the goblins, gnolls and hobgoblins of Carpet & Creatures and the pantheon of Giants, if you run those — while staying friendly to dwarves, vanilla villagers and iron golems. Creepers are frightened of elves and flee on sight. Out of combat guards heal slowly, and at dawn they reset to their posts.

Wagon and Ship

Finish a town and the Trade Office opens, bringing the Expedition Master and two elven-built vehicles — a Covered Wagon for the road and an Ocean Ship for open water, both in pale oak and cherry with the elven palette. Each carries riders and cargo.

Colonize

The Expedition Master also takes colony dispatches. Stock the Trade Office vault with a full founding expedition — seven core components and a travel fee — and send it out. It establishes a settlement elsewhere, which then grows through the same deed system. That is how one town becomes a network across your world.

Where to Start

1

Find the natural town

/elventown natural. It’s a free, fully-staffed head start and a safe base to work from.

2

Craft a Deed Office

Nothing unlocks until the Architect is in business.

3

Buy a cheap shop, then found your town

One small profession shop teaches you the vault-payment flow before you commit to anything large. Then lay a Town Centre — and get a guard tower up before nightfall.

Requirements

What you need

  • Minecraft Java 26.2 with Fabric Loader 0.19.3+ and Fabric API 0.152.0+26.2 or newer
  • Java 25, on both client and server — the elves use custom entity rendering
  • Runs standalone. Creatures, Giants and the Dwarven Outpost are optional companions with no hard dependency in any direction.

For Server Owners

  • Exactly one natural town per world, guaranteed by a saved flag that survives reloads and chunk regeneration.
  • Natural generation is locked to the vanilla Overworld specifically, so the mod coexists cleanly with dimension-adding mods.
  • Population is bounded per region and per faction; affiliated residents persist while stragglers despawn.
  • Worldgen probes without force-generating chunks, and the frontier search is throttled.
  • /elventown tp [nearest|natural] is operator-gated.
